Mission Statement
The Friends of the Ohio Governor’s Residence and Heritage Garden is dedicated to promoting Ohio’s history and future through education, preservation and conservation.
Inspired by our Mount Vernon Lecture Series, this trip is designed to bring to life the compelling story of America’s First President George Washington and his beloved estate, Mount Vernon. This exclusive tour will be an exploration and celebration of American history and art, gardens and landscapes, and preservation and restoration. It will include VIP tours of the Mount Vernon mansion and gardens, dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn, and a unique opportunity enjoy the Estate’s annual wine festival and sunset tour.

VIP Tours of Mount Vernon Mansion and GardensOur guided tour will provide an up-close view of the home’s architectural details, fine furnishings, and artwork collections as described during Senior Curator, Carol Cadou’s June lecture. Dean Norton, Director of Horticulture for Mount Vernon, (who presented in October) will lead us on a very special tour of the gardens, illuminating the gardening world of George Washington while describing the extensive journey to restore the Estate’s gardens to their original 18th century design. Includes VIP table seating with shared bottles of wine, cheese and fruit (additional concessions can be purchased). The evening also includes entertainment, candlelit tours, and samplings of Virginia wines.HAUNTED DINE AROUND OF OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA
Includes a walking tour of Old Town Alexandria led by a Colonial-clad tour guide, with stops at historic sites and ghoulish tales. The evening also includes restaurant visits to enjoy specially created dishes and drinks that highlight local cusine.

Hotel accommodations are to be made directly with and paid for individually by travelers. Specially priced rooms (single and double occupancy) are available to us at the following two Alexandria hotels. Pricing is for double or single occupancy. When making arrangements for hotels, travelers should mention the Friends of the Ohio Governor’s Residence group. These two hotels will be the only coach stops in Alexandria.
